Access to property is a challenge in our society and providing affordable housing has become a necessity for cities and the general population.
In this competition entry, we designed a coherent neighbourhood consisting of groups of rowhouses with private gardens and commons green areas.
Our aim is to raise the bar of affordable housing by design.
By designing compact, liveable homes in dialogue with private and public outdoor spaces, we also create space for social interaction enhancing the sense of community.
By integrating high-performing Passive House principles to the design, we improve the comfort and health of owners by providing a constant fresh air supply and consistent indoor temperatures. Triple glazed windows and consequent improved acoustics can be appreciated by owners in a housing complex.
By implementing net-zero-energy strategies to the design, we minimise operational costs and affordable housing owners can better predict their spending.
